Dear Families and Visitors,

Located just 10 minutes from Kaminoge Station, Oakwood Tokyo International School serves the Setagaya, Southern Meguro, and Western Ota communities. At Oakwood, we believe a school is more than a place of learning. It is a vibrant community where children, families, and educators come together to nurture each child’s unique potential.

We proudly support both local and international families with a comprehensive early childhood education and childcare program for children aged 10 months to 8 years. In April 2025, we launched our Bridging to Elementary School program, followed by a full 1st through 3rd grade curriculum. Our nearly full lower-grade elementary program follows the IB-PYP framework, ensuring a seamless transition to elementary education in an environment that fosters curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

As Director, I bring decades of experience in both the U.S. and Japan. Growing up in Massachusetts, I benefited from a supportive educational community that shaped my own learning journey. After studying Chinese and Japanese at the University of Massachusetts, I moved to Japan to teach and coordinate English programs, later returning to the U.S. where I earned teaching certifications for all grade levels. These experiences fuel my commitment to empowering children through education.

At Oakwood, our dedicated team of skilled, passionate educators shares a common vision. Every child should feel academically supported and emotionally valued. Joining Oakwood means becoming part of a warm, extended family devoted to helping children reach their full potential.

We invite you to partner with us in shaping your child’s early educational journey. We look forward to welcoming you to the Oakwood family.

Warm regards,
David B. Foley, Jr.
